Jaspers are an opaque microcrystalline type of quartz that was formed by silica-rich sediment or volcanic ash. The name “Jasper” comes from the Old French word “jasprew” which means “spotted or speckled stone.” There are several different types of Jaspers. The most frequent colors you will find of this stone are brown, red, orange, yellow, and green.
